Marketing Vs. Branding
We at Reciprocity had the honour of having a debate on Marketing vs. Branding at Alchemy, our esteem panel was Mr. Dilip Cherian, Mr. Abhijit Das, Mrs. Priyanka Jawahar Noria and Mr. Aman Batra.
A few words of wisdom that had us glued .
Mr. Cherian explains how "one must sell to survive , but market to exist" further talking about the given situation due to covid -19, entrepreneur, SME , big and small players all have been affected and turn towards digitisation. as he beautifully goes on to explain with a simile" like an avalanche of digital invaders find their way to our inbox, but only those that create enough froth are the ones that can still make a difference".
to quote Abhijit Basu "marketing is the most critical for a business, it is so to say the lifeline. However Branding is now more attainable and not as expensive as it used to be" he suggests a mixed both for a successful strategy on the whole, given 80% marketing and 20% Branding.
Mrs. Priyanka Jawahar, being an entrepreneur spoke of branding to be the ethos of a company and product, it speaks directly to the customers.
Towards the last few minutes of the debate on being asked to sum up her final thoughts post the discussion, a truly heart felt thought touched all our hearts when she said.
"Branding is the soul to your body, while marketing is the food you need survive".
Another perspective we ought to quote was by Mr. Aman Batra, when he says " Branding is like an art. While, Marketing is about Math".
